Bargara is on the Central Coast of Queensland
Bagara Beach is situated on the central coast of Queensland. It is about 370km north of Brisbane and about 1365km from Cairns.
The nearest main city is Bundaberg which is about 13 miles to the west of Bagara.
Originally known as Sandhills, the town is noted for being chosen as the receiving point for the intercontinental telegraphic cable which came from New Caledonia in 1893, thus linking Australia to North America.
