Welcome to Bangalow
Bangalow is a charming, quiet, rural township in the hinterland, recently bypassed by the Pacific Highway. Only 16km from Byron Bay, located in the gentle hills of the Northern Rivers, lies a picturesque town with opportunities to indulge in local food and boutique shopping along the main street.
It was a tiny farming community known only amongst the locals in the early days. Nowadays, the place is famous among travellers who wish to take a peek at the palm trees, enjoy the crystal world, or travel down memory lane. This picturesque town can combine traditional architecture with a modern feel.
How To Get There
The best way to get to Bangalow is by car, as the Sydney to Brisbane train does not reach Bangalow. There are buses between Byron Bay and Bangalow, which takes approximately 20 minutes and are operated by Blanch’s Bus Company, Ballina Buslines and NSW TrainLink.
Bangalow Town
The town is known as a one-street town in an area of rolling hills where the dominant agriculture is dairy cattle, fruit trees, macadamia nuts and coffee plantations.

Bangalow Heritage House, Museum and Tea Room
The Bangalow Heritage House Museum has a collection of local memorabilia and historical photographs providing insight into the history of the cedar cutters who settled in the area.
Bangalow Heritage Walk
Explore down memory lane, walk from the Heritage House Museum through the town, and learn about the history, including the Masonic Hall, the A&I Hall, the Catholic Church on Deacon Street, and Federation-era timber houses.
Minyon Falls
The Minyon Falls are impressive for nature lovers to catch a spectacular view of its waterfall and the rainforest. It makes an excellent spot for a weekend holidays in Bangalow.
Crystal Castle and Shambhala Gardens
Take a 17-minute drive from Bangalow to Crystal Castle, an authentic place for unique crystals. You will be welcomed by the largest Buddha statue and impressed with two of the tallest crystals in the world. Wonder into their amethyst cave and spend a day relaxing at the Shambhala Gardens.
Bangalow Markets
With country towns and villages nestled in the lush green hills and valleys, Bangalow village is a historical treasure.
Every 4th Sunday of each month, the Bangalow markets are held, gathering locals, artists, artisans, bakers, therapists, farmers and friends. It is a treat for a day out or a retreat from the city to enjoy this community market.
Paid parking is available in the showgrounds at Bangalow market, and the proceeds from the parking charges help maintain and improve the showgrounds with a committee of community volunteers.
The Farm Byron Bay
A 15-minute drive from Byron Bay or 30 minutes from the Gold Coast and Ballina, you will be engulfed in the surrounds of a Macadamia Orchard and a real working farm. You can get close and personal to the heritage black pigs in their natural surroundings and be amongst chickens roaming around while enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. Fields of macadamia and pecan trees surround the area, where the kids can run around and enjoy the grounds.
Enjoy lunch at the onsite restaurant, Three Blue Ducks, a rustic farm barn open every day of the year except Christmas Day.

The Newrybar is a historic village where an award-winning restaurant, Harvest Newrybar, is filled with delis and baked goods and is known as the oldest bakery in the country.
