Ireland has a rich history, stretching back hundreds of years from when invaders first came to the shores from Britain. The best time to visit Ireland is between March to May and September to November.

 

Climate:

Ireland has a mild, temperate climate, and although it’s rainy, you can visit all year round.

 

The wettest months, almost everywhere, are December and January. April is the driest month generally, but in many southern parts, June is the driest. Temperatures vary between 3° C and a maximum of 28°C.

Language: 

The official language in the Republic of Ireland is English and Irish (Gaeilge). Northern Ireland is where you’ll hear the soft strains of Ullans (Ulster-Scots). 


Currency:

The official currency in the Republic of Ireland is the Euro (€).  Northern Ireland (part of the UK) uses Pound Sterling (£).


Banks & ATMs:

The leading banks are Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank (NatWest Group), Northern Bank, trading as Danske Bank and Allied Irish Banks. ATMs are widely available.


Plugs and Sockets:

For Ireland, the associated plug type is G, which is the plug that has three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern. Ireland operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Consider carrying a universal adapter.


Local Culture: 

The culture of Ireland, primarily Gaelic, includes language, literature, music, art, folklore, cuisine, and sport associated with Ireland and the Irish people. Some examples are Halloween. St. Patrick’s Day, Craic traditional music, slang and Christmas.


Safety: 

Generally, visitors to Ireland experience no difficulties during their stay but be vigilant, as pickpocketing and bag snatching occurs.

Aer Lingus is the national airline of Ireland,  but many International airlines also fly to Ireland.
