Rainbow Beach is a coastal rural town located in the Gympie Region, popular as a tourist destination and as a gateway to Fraser Island. Famous for its rainbow-coloured sand dunes surrounding the settlement where the wonderful sand colours come from the minerals in the sand.
The Carlo Sand Blow is located in Rainbow Beach and is a sand mass covering over 15 hectares, known for its natural “moonscape” appearance. Amazing views can be witnessed of the Cooloola Cove and Tin Can Bay. From the coast side, there are fantastic views from Double Island Point to Inskip Peninsula and the southern tip of Fraser Island. There is also an opportunity for the adventurous to try sand-boarding or tabogganing.
Tin Can Bay, located on Fraser Coast, is home to the Australian Humpback Dolphin. The Barnacles Dolphin Centre gives an opportunity between 7 am to 8 am to feed the dolphins. There are six dolphins in the pod and Mystique the eldest of the pod has been in Tin Can Bay since 1991.
