Kuwait has a hyper-arid desert climate that is highly variable with recurrent extremes with four distinct seasons, together with hot, dry summers and short winters.

Maximum daily temperatures can reach 45°C during summer when there is no rainfall.

Language: 

The official language is Arabic, but English is widely spoken.

 

Currency:

The Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) is the national currency of Kuwait.

 

Banks & ATMs: 

The leading banks in Kuwait are:

National Bank of Kuwait, Kuwait Finance House (KFH), Burgan Bank and Gulf Bank. ATMs are widely available.

 

Plugs and Sockets:

The associated plug type is G, which is the plug that has three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern. Kuwait operates on a 240V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Consider carrying a universal adapter.

 

Local Culture: 

Kuwaiti culture is characterized by conservative social traditions and values but embraces many Western cultural aspects. Most Kuwaitis are Muslim, and Islam largely governs Kuwait’s law and social norms. Please make sure to respect their culture and dress conservatively.

 

Safety: 

As a rule, Kuwait is safe for tourists, but criminal activities occur. Try to avoid secluded places or non-residential areas after dark.

Kuwait Airways is the national carrier of Kuwait, but many International airlines also fly here.
