The city enjoys a subtropical climate, with warm summers and mild winters, with average temperatures in summer ranging from 20°C to 28°C, while in winter, ranging from 11°C to 21°C. The warm weather and clear waters make Byron Bay popular for water-based activities, surfing, swimming, and snorkelling. Main Beach has some of the most beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters and soft white sand. The waves are perfect for beginners and experienced surfers.
Byron Bay is famous for its relaxed and alternative lifestyle, attracting travellers worldwide who seek a bohemian atmosphere and a slower pace of life. It is also known for its vibrant music scene, with many local and international musicians performing in the area throughout the year. How To Get There
By Plane: Byron Bay has its own airport, called Ballina Byron Gateway Airport, which is located around 30 minutes south of the town. Alternatively, Gold Coast Airport is another nearby airport located around 60 kilometres north of Byron Bay, which also has several domestic and international flight options.
By Car: Byron Bay is easily accessible by car, and the town is located on the Pacific Highway, which connects Sydney and Brisbane. The drive is scenic and passes through many charming coastal towns, and several car rental companies operate in both cities.
By Bus: Several bus companies operate services to Byron Bay from both Sydney and Brisbane. Greyhound Australia, Premier Motor Service, and NSW TrainLink are popular operators offering services to Byron Bay. The journey takes around 13 hours from Sydney and around 2.5 hours from Brisbane.

On Australia’s easternmost point, Cape Byron Lighthouse is an iconic attraction offering breathtaking ocean views and the surrounding landscape. There are plenty of great cafes and restaurants, but one of my favourites is The Top Shop. This trendy cafe serves delicious coffee, fresh juices, and mouth-watering breakfasts. I highly recommend trying the smashed avocado on toast – it’s a classic Aussie dish.
