The Oldest Inhabited Continent on Earth

Africa is not a country but the oldest inhabited continent of 54 countries, sometimes known as the “Mother Continent.” Humans and ancestors have lived in Africa for more than 5 million years.

Surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Atlantic Ocean, Africa is a distinctively unique continent with a diverse culture and rich cultural heritage, offering a wealth of natural resources and breathtaking tourist attractions.

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT

May to October, being the winter monthsis the best time for traveling to AfricaIt is also the ideal time to explore the southern game reserves, from  June, as it is the dry season and a cooler time of the year to see the animals.

Climate  –There are four main climatic zones in Africa;

Arid and semi-arid, Tropical, Equatorial and Temperate

WHAT TO EXPECT

Language:

English is the most spoken language on the continent, while Swahili is the most widespread native language.

Currency: There is no dominant national currency in Africa, as every country uses its own currency for internal payments and local commerce.

Banks & ATMs:

Standard Bank and Absa Bank are leading African banks, and ATMs are available everywhere.

Plugs and Sockets:

Africa generally uses Type C, D, M and N.

Type C is the plug with two round pins; plug type D is the plug with three round pins in a triangular pattern, and plug types M and N both have three round pins.

South Africa operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. We highly recommend carrying a universal adaptor.

Flight Connections:

The main airport hubs of Africa are Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport, Addis Ababa, and Nairobi, offering many flights to other parts of Africa by connecting to one of these hubs.

Etihad Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines offer connections to many major African cities for the best travel in Africa.
