The Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts brand represents a dynamic upscale hotel brand and is part of the IHG global portfolio.
Recently we moved to Abu Dhabi as expats for work. Due to the close vicinity of our workplace, we were offered to stay at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island. The two months we resided here went so fast, and we enjoyed every aspect of this hotel as a home away from home while finding our permanent residence.
We are forever grateful to the entire staff and team at Crowne Plaza, who made our stay stress-free and very memorable.
Location
This elegant upscale hotel is approximately 10 minutes to Abu Dhabi International Airport and 25 minutes to downtown Abu Dhabi.
Ferrari World, Warner Bros World and Yas Waterworld theme parks are conveniently located 2-4 km from the hotel, including the Yas Marina hotel Abu Dhabi, where the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is held yearly. Only minutes away is Yas Links Golf club.
An impressive Yas Mall is a shoppers’ paradise approximately 5 km away for all your shopping needs. Complimentary buses stationed within walking distance from the Crowne Plaza have regular schedules to commute shoppers to Yas Mall. There are also frequent taxis available.
The complimentary Yas Express shuttle service runs all day, from 9 am to midnight, taking guests to the island’s attractions.
Ambience
The hotel ambience is elegant with striking contemporary decor, combining traditional culture with modern decor. The lobby lounge featuring marble floors and unique wall statements invites and welcomes you with open arms. From the doorman to the check-in staff, we were greeted and welcomed by friendly and very attentive staff.
With clear views of the Arabian Gulf, lush green oasis of Yas Links golf course and stunning sunsets, you will feel at home in this total complete property that takes care of your every need.
Dining
The Crowne Plaza restaurants and dining options draw on various cultures and authentic settings to create distinct experiences.
We found the breakfast staff and team leader very accommodating and attentive. Our favourite tea each morning is ginger tea and within a week, the staff had perfected the ingredients and had this ready for us each morning. It made us feel special.
We also liked how occasionally the waiters would hand out little glasses of power shots created by the chefs consisting of a different blend every day. Again this personalised touch is exemplary.
There are five popular dining options including brunches, buffets, live music, a shisha garden, and room service 24/7.
Jing Asia – Serves Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert. An all-day dining buffet restaurant featuring a fusion of Asian and International cuisines.
Stills Restaurant & Bar – Serves Lunch, Dinner, Dessert
Stills has the longest bar in the capital and serves signature European dishes and an extensive range of international draught beers and spirits.
A great place with an awesome vibe!
Our favourite dish was the chicken wings and minced chicken wrapped in lettuce.
Barouk – Award-Winning authentic Lebanese restaurant for a truly Arabic experience.
Enjoy delicious mezze, great mixed grills, and Fish Tajine accompanied by talented musicians to create a relaxing environment.
After dinner, enjoy the shisha garden overlooking the romantic setting of the moon shimmering on the Arabic Gulf waters.
Sundowner Pool Bar – Serves Lunch and Dinner.
Relaxing by the pool, enjoy a variety of refreshing beverages and light snacks which can be ordered by the poolside bar.
Views Lobby Lounge – Location: Ground Floor
A perfect place to meet and connect with friends or colleagues over afternoon tea or early evening cocktail while enjoying magnificent views across the golf course and Arabian Gulf.
In-Room Dining
Rooms and Suites
The 428 modern refined rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows are large and bright. They all feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and minibars.
If you choose to upgrade your room, there is an option to have a balcony and Gulf views. All rooms are equipped with deep marble shower and tub combos, bidets, plush bathrobes, slippers, and toiletries.
Suites have a separate lounge, and the Superior Suites include a kitchenette.
We had a Superior King room with a balcony overlooking the pool. The decor of neutral tones, comfortable bathrobes and slippers were provided to make you feel at home.
The rooms are spacious, and the beds are very comfortable. A suitable office desk with a lamp is available if you had to work from the room.
Hotel Amenities
Parking
Complimentary parking is available with free secure underground parking. You can either self-park or utilise the services of valet parking. A rental car service desk is also available in the lobby area.
Business Center Services
The hotel’s on-site Business Center and Services are available 24 hours a day to ensure you are well connected and productive. Copying, printing and office supplies are available.
Kids Club
If parents need a bit of time out, the Kids’ Club is available to keep the kids entertained.
Swimming Pool
The hotel features a luxurious 25-meter outdoor swimming pool featuring umbrellas, cushioned loungers, and a swim-up pool bar.
Yas Beach
Ask the concierge for beach vouchers that entitle you to use the towels, daybeds, and beach umbrellas at Yas Beach which is conveniently located approximately 4 mins by bus or an 18 minute refreshing walk.
Mayan Beach
Just a short walk from the hotel’s pool, you can access a small resort beach (if you don’t want to go to the main Yas beach). Just speak to the security guard who will take note of your name and room number and then allow you to access this beach.
This cute little man-made beach has sunbeds, umbrellas and lifeguards to watch over you if you’re going to swim in the sea.
Spa & Fitness Center
The on-site spa offers various massage services, beauty treatments and hair salons individually for men and women.
A fully-equipped state-of-the-art gym offers cardio and weight-training machines and free weights, complete with a sauna, steam rooms and a squash court. If required, you can also avail services of a personal trainer.
Final Thoughts
There are not enough words to express how we felt from the moment we arrived at this beautiful hotel to call our home for the next few weeks.
The staff are incredibly polite and made us feel so welcome. Everyone remembered our names after the first time we met them, and nothing was too much trouble for anyone.
We received personalised service from the dining room to the front lobby staff and the fantastic team at the concierge.
