Culture
In general, Singapore is a very conservative country, so you should be mindful about revealing too much flesh with the clothes you wear (if in doubt, follow the lead of the locals).
Also, it is important to note that smoking is a big no-no, with it being prohibited in pretty much every indoor location, including bus terminals, on public transport and even at bars, restaurants and clubs.
Unfortunately, being gay is a ‘crime’ too, punishable by up to two years in jail. So be mindful that even the act of two men holding hands can get you into serious trouble with the police.

Best Time to Travel
Singapore is a year-round travel destination, though the best time to visit is generally between December and June.
The high season is considered December and January, when most visitors come, especially for Chinese New Year. During this time hotel prices will be at their highest, and availability might be scarce.
Arguably the best time to visit is from February to April. This falls within the dry season and is usually when the country experiences the most sunshine and least rain.
If you are looking for the best rates on flights and hotels and don’t mind a bit of rainy weather, you can often secure great deals for July and August.
How To Get There
Reaching Singapore is easy and convenient, thanks to its major international travel hub status. The award-winning Changi Airport, consistently ranked among the best in the world, serves numerous airlines with direct flights from major cities worldwide.Â
Getting Around Singapore
Singapore is straightforward to get around because of its integrated and extensive network of roads, buses, trains, and taxis that cover the whole island.
The best way to travel to the city is via its Mass Rapid Transit subway system. Also known as MRT, this great underground network connects you from one part of the city to another in no time at all.
The MRT also operates many bus routes to deliver you to where you want to go.
Car hire is readily available in Singapore, but given how reliable the MRT system is, it is a far more expensive option. Cycling is a good alternative, though, if you want to explore the city in a way that will also keep you fit.
Whether you’re coming from nearby Asian countries or further afield, Singapore’s excellent connectivity ensures a smooth and hassle-free journey.

Final Thoughts
Singapore is a beautiful place to visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
Despite being a relatively small island, the city has many notable attractions, which we loved. Most of these were easy to reach via their public transport system.
One of the city’s most pleasing aspects is its harmony. Chinese, Malays, and Indians live homogenously with ex-pat Brits, Americans, and Australians in one big melting pot of cultures, traditions, and values.
The city’s quality of life is excellent, and throughout our time there, it felt like a very safe place. Which overall translated favourably to our visitor experience. We’d go back there in a heartbeat.
