Welcome to Frankfurt
Frankfurt (Frankfurt am Main) is known for its impressive skyline and financial district, the largest in Germany. Skyline Frankfurt is similarly famous for its impressive looks. With a central transportation hub, an international airport and a dense network of railway lines, Frankfurt is one of Germany’s most important commercial centres, with many banks and other financial institutions.
There’s something special about Frankfurt– a vibrancy that comes from its history and diversity. While it is home to some of the world’s largest and most powerful banks, the city is also surprisingly livable. Frankfurt offers something to everyone, with over 70,000 people and plenty of culture and nightlife. So if you’re looking for a blend of old-world charm and modern amenities, Frankfurt is the place to be. You can do many things in this vibrant metropolis – so much that it can be tough to know where to start.
We were recently in Frankfurt, and I have to say that we loved it! The city is vibrant and energetic, and there’s so much to see and do. One of my favourite things about Frankfurt was the food. The restaurants are unique and offer various dishes, from traditional German cuisine to more exotic options. Apart from the food, we loved the architecture. There are some stunning buildings throughout the city, and it’s entertaining to wander around and take it all in. If you love history and architecture, then Frankfurt is worth a visit.
How To Get There
You can get to Frankfurt in many ways, either by flight to the airport, taking a train, or driving. Frankfurt Airport is considered the largest airport in Germany, so make sure you know which terminal your flight is departing from and arriving in. Once you’re at the airport, plenty of shops and restaurants keep you entertained.
If you’re taking the train, there are several railway stations in Frankfurt, including Hauptbahnhof (the central railway station), Frankfurter Westbahnhof, and Ostendstraße. The train station is located in the city’s centre and easily accessible by foot or taxi. In addition, some trains run regularly between Frankfurt and other major cities in Germany, so getting somewhere is easy.
Finally, if you’re driving, Frankfurt is easy to find. The most direct route is via the A3 motorway, but several other ways will take you there. Just use a GPS or follow signs that say “Frankfurt.” Once you’re in the city, plenty of parking options are available.
Places Of Interest
Römerberg
Römerberg is Frankfurt’s historic city centre, and it’s terrific. You’ll love strolling through the cobbled streets and admiring the old buildings – many of which date back to the 14th century. If you’re interested in the history of Frankfurt, make sure to visit the Römerberg Museum.
Main Tower
If you’re looking for a fantastic view of Frankfurt, make your way to the Main Tower. Frankfurt main tower is nearly 200 meters high, it’s one of the tallest buildings in the city and offers stunning panoramic views from its observation deck. Also, check out the multimedia show every half hour in the tower’s lobby. I got to experience this on my visit, and it was excellent!
Stadel Museum
My favourite place in Frankfurt is the Stadel Museum. It’s a beautiful building with an impressive art collection, including many famous pieces by Michelangelo and Rembrandt. The museum is also home to one of the world’s largest collections of German art from the Middle Ages to the present day.
Frankfurt Cathedral
For architecture lovers, Frankfurt Cathedral will leave you in awe. This beautiful Gothic church is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and is worth a visit.
Kleinmarkthalle
This indoor market is a foodie’s dream, with stalls selling everything from local cheese and meats to fresh produce and spices. It’s the perfect place to wander around and explore, and you’re sure to find something delicious to eat.
Kleinmarkthalle can be pretty busy on weekends, but it’s worth a visit if you want to see how the locals shop and eat. And don’t forget to try some delicious frankfurter sausages while you’re there!
Old Opera House (Alte Oper)
The Alte Oper is a beautiful old opera house in Frankfurt’s city centre now used for concerts, lectures, and other events.
It was built in 1880 and has been restored several times. The building is imposing from the outside, and it’s worth going inside to look at the grand staircase and the beautiful ceiling paintings. A small museum on the upper level also showcases artefacts from the opera house’s history. Admission is free for visitors.
Deutsche Bank Park
Another beautiful place in Frankfurt is the Deutsche Bank Park. You’ll love walking or having a picnic here. Plus, there’s a playground for kids. The park is enormous, and it’s always nicely landscaped with flowers and trees. And there’s a lovely pond with ducks and geese, which makes for some great photo ops.

You can never go wrong with Moxy Frankfurt City Center for more budget-friendly accommodation. It’s a 3-star hotel with a modern and stylish look. The hotel has a trendy rooftop bar with fantastic city views, and guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi and breakfast during their stay.
Where To Eat
There are many excellent restaurants in Frankfurt. Some of the most famous include Henninger Turm, Zum Schwarzen Baren and Hessischer Hof. Each restaurant has something unique, so you’re sure to find something to suit your taste.
Henninger Turm is famous for its excellent German cuisine and fabulous if you’re looking for a traditional meal. The cooks use only the freshest ingredients and prepare each dish with care.
Zum Schwarzen Baren is another excellent choice for German food. The difference is that the focus is on modern interpretations of classic dishes. So, if you’re looking for a new take on an old favourite, this is the place for you.
Hessischer Hof is a bit more upscale, but it’s worth a visit if you’re looking for a luxurious dining experience. The menu features German and international cuisine, so there’s something for everyone. And the wine list is excellent.
Final Thoughts
Frankfurt adorns itself with an impressive skyline and its beautiful countryside, so the perfect place to base yourself for a day trip or weekend.
