THE BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to travel to Egypt is during the winter, from October to April, when temperatures are lower, and the most popular time for tourists is December and January.

 

Climate:

Egypt has two main seasons: a mild winter and a hot summer.

Summer – maximum of 30°C (May to October).

Winter – minimum of 4°C (November to April)

 

Local Culture: 

Egypt has a diverse culture that blends Egyptian and Western cultures and traditions. The people are friendly, open to other cultures and known for their warm hospitality. Religion plays a big role in the life of Egyptians, intermingled with the daily activities of Muslims and Christians living in Egypt. 

Please make sure to respect their culture and dress conservatively.

WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Language: 

The official language is Modern Standard Arabic, spoken by 90% of the population. English is widely spoken in major tourist cities like Cairo and most resorts.

 

Currency:

The Egyptian Pound (E£, ج.م) is the official currency of Egypt.

 

Banks & ATMs: 

The leading banks in Egypt are: HSBC Bank Egypt, Bank of Alexandria, National Bank of Egypt and Banque du Caire.

 

Plugs and Sockets:

There are two associated plug types, C and F

Plug type C is the plug that has two round pins, and plug type F has two round pins with two earth clips on the side.  Egypt operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Consider carrying a universal adapter.

 

Safety: 

As a rule, Egypt is safe for tourists and women, but be vigilant, as tourist hotspots and public places are prone to pickpocketing and petty crimes.

 

Flight Connections:

 

EgyptAir is the national airline carrier for Egypt, but many International airlines also serve this country.

Air Arabia, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Aegean Airlines all fly non-stop to Egypt, to name a few.
